Back pain is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide and in the case of chronic pain, showcases a two-way relationship with mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. Yoga is an incredibly valuable therapeutic tool in pain management as it addresses the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of health. Despite the benefits of the yoga practice, living with back pain can create barriers to being able to participate in fitness and yoga classes. Many people face fears around moving with pain and without knowing where the pain is coming from, it can be difficult to know whether movement will be relieving or make things feel worse.
This session will introduce yoga in a way that is safe, therapeutic, and effective by teaching you how to tap into the signals your body is offering you, using specific cueing and sequencing that is designed for back pain. You will leave with a better understanding of your body so that you can confidently participate in yoga classes in a way that feels good for you.
Join Aura Carcueva in this practice of restorative yoga. Find yourself in a comfortable position, connect your body with your breath, and dedicate this time to nourish your mind.

Chronic pain is, in many ways, a conundrum in healthcare. The most up-to-date research suggests that a biopsychosocial approach can be successful in managing pain that has persisted for many months or years. Pain can be influenced by how we move, what we eat, and our lifestyle choices. Movement is medicine and the answer to better health lies in a strong mind-body connection.
In this session, you will learn how to master movement, nourish your body with whole foods, and address lifestyle factors to overcome pain holistically.
Past life events can have a profound impact on our bodies and minds as we move forward in our lives. As it has been said, the body remembers, and psychological stress can later manifest as physical symptoms in the case of unresolved trauma.

The research is overwhelming: diets do not work. According to the Council on Size & Weight Discrimination, 95% of diets fail and more than half will end up gaining back any lost weight within 1-5 years. So when we fail, we feel like a failure. We blame ourselves and our lack of willpower. We never blame the diet. And there is a billion dollar industry that profits off of this internalization of shame. The question then becomes, if diets don’t work - what does?
In this session, you will learn how to love your body and redefine what it means to be healthy. Ditch diets, body shame, and food guilt once and for all and start the journey of finding what really works for you.
